MASTERS CATEGORY:

Are you a woman and do you boulder 7a+? Are you a man and do you boulder 7c? Then Masters Category might be for you! Compete for a €10,000 cash purse.

There will be two starting groups in qualifiers, athletes will climb 6 boulders for each category (female or male) in a flash format. The best 20 women and men go through to semi-finals. Semi-finals are a full show with lights, dj and live stream, just like finals. The top 6 semifinalists from the men's and women's divisions will advance to finals. Athletes will have 2 minutes to preview the 4 final boulders and an additional 4 minutes + to climb each of the boulder problems. Semi-finals and finals will adhere to the World Cup format, with a slight alteration for time in finals (4 minutes +) and athletes might see some boulders being reset.

To compete in Masters, female athletes must climb a minimum of 7a+ and male athletes are required to climb a minimum of 7c. The competition for the Masters Category will be held over two days. Qualifiers and semi-finals will be held on Saturday the 27th. Finals will be held on Sunday the 28th of January. There are some changes this year:

  • Every Masters competitor who does not qualify for the semi final round can watch semi finals for free;
  • Every Masters semi finalist who does not qualify for finals is invited to watch the finals for free;

THE WEEK RUNNING UP TO THE EVENT
Only Masters competitors shall not climb at Energiehaven the week prior to the competition to keep everything fair for everyone. We have another facility in Utrecht, Boulderhal Zuidhaven, that is most convenient to visit during this week.

Climbing at Energiehaven the week prior to the event is possible, but there will be less climbing surface available. The competition wall will be closed starting Monday. Wednesday another part of the gym will close. Both Kilter Boards and the training area will be available as usual until Wednesday. Energiehaven is closed on Thursday 25th and Friday January 26th.

WHO CAN APPLY FOR VOLUNTEERING?
Volunteers can compete in one of the Recreational competitions at no cost. They receive a free t-shirt and a meal voucher. Want to help? Let us know at dockmasters@boulderhalenergiehaven.nl

PRIVACY
By purchasing a ticket and attending the event, you consent to being filmed, photographed or otherwise recorded, and that your name may be broadcasted or displayed.

TRAVEL INFORMATION
Utrecht nearest airport is Schiphol. This is a major international airport served by most airlines including some budget airlines. Approx 40km from Utrecht with a direct train line from the airport. For public transport details see www.9292.nl

GETTING THERE / PARKING
Obviously we're going to be very busy over the Dock Masters weekend, so there will be limited parking available. Some of which belong to other businesses so please respect their signage and keep all exits and entries clear. The best scenario would be that you cycle, get the bus or train down. If this isn't possible, then please try to share a car. Please follow the directions of our parking attendants.

WHY THE RAISE IN PRICES?
The financial benefits of organizing this event do not weigh up to the cost, by a long shot. Even with these increased entry fees the financial loss will be quite extensive. Although we are happy to offer this to our community, we need to be mindful not to let things get out of hand. We understand these fees will be too much for some and we feel sorry about that. That's why we invest in a quality live stream which is free to watch for everyone!

NOT FOR PROFIT
Ticket sales will cover just a third of the costs associated with running such a competition. Good sponsoring will make the entry fee go down. We do it because we want to give something back not only to our customers but to the competition scene in the Netherlands. This event will attract not only the best climbers in the Netherlands but also from Europe and further abroad. Watching semis and finals should hopefully get you even more psyched about your own climbing!

Whether you compete or just watch the show, we hope you really enjoy your weekend at Dock Masters 2024!

TICKETS
It is not possible to rebook or cancel purchased tickets through us. We recommend to sell tickets and purchase sold out tickets through Ticketswap. To make this work you need to download the entire email with the tickets as a pdf and upload it to Ticketswap.
